Description
Gibson Les Paul Gold Top 1952/53 owned by James Dean Bradfield Manic Street Preachers
Something very special for any vintage Les Paul collector … exclusively offered through The Music Deli with authentication from James himself.
Recently appraised by Vintage & Modern Guitars in Thame, Oxfordshire, this stunning example of the first version of the classic Les Paul has had a total re-finish probably in the mid 1980’s (estimated) to a very high standard indeed. However, it remains unbroken with no visible repairs. The guitar is complete with all its original hardware and plastic which includes the switch tip, PAT pending Les Paul tail piece, PAT number Kluson tuners and the tall amber control knobs, all correct for 52/53. Critically all electronics are present and original other than broken solder on the pots to enable the refinish. The frets have also been replaced at some point in it’s life.
The only change visible is a replaced output socket plate that is now metal rather than plastic, a common occurrence as the plastic regularly cracks on the originals.
The guitar comes with a more recent tan/pink lined Gibson case that still carries the labeling & inventory stickers from James himself.
He remembers buying this very special instrument at a vintage guitar specialist in Denmark Street in London in the late 1990’s
Needless to say, this is an extremely rare guitar that does not materialize in the marketplace very often in similar condition and integrity, if this guitar was with the original finish and case it would be for sale in the £16,000 to £18,000 range.
