Burns Baldwin Bison Bass owned by Nicky Wire circa 1967/68
Something very special for any Manic Street Preachers fan … exclusively offered through The Music Deli with authentication from Nicky himself.
This very special bass was used for the recording of the song ‘Prologue To History’, a song that was upgraded from legendary ‘b’ side status when it appeared on the 20th Anniversary version of ‘This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours’ as was intended on the original release in 1998. It was also used regularly in the studio thereafter, and occasionally used live.
The backplate on the neck joint appears to have been changed to one claiming the serial number to be ‘1990’, but we have checked with Burns UK who have confirmed that it is not original and the bass dates back to 1967 or 1968. It appears the bridge has been replaced at some point.
Other modifications include the ‘bar’ protectors that usually cover the middle pickup on this era of bass have been removed and strap-locks have been fitted
The bass comes with the sought after Burns case. There are some dents and dings primarily around the body end near the jack input, but there is loads of fret life left and overall it is in very good to excellent condition
A nice extra included with the bass is a FULLY SIGNED copy of the ‘This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours’ CD that this bass was used on, plus a photo of Nicky with the bass
